I went to the dealer several times until they agreed to tear the engine down. They tell me that there is cylinder damage and thjat they will REPLACE the engine. A couple of questions:1) Will they give me a signed SVT engine as a replacement? 2) Is there a known defect that leads to this? 3) What would cause cylinder scoring or damage?

Bill, I hava a 2003 GT 'Vert with the following mods; 3.73 gears, BBK Lt headers and O/R h-pipe, SLP catback, CAI, 70mm TB, lowered 2 inches, C/C plates, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, strut tower brace and subframe connectors. My question concerns the internal engine parts. I plan to purchase an intercooled Kenne Bell S/C in the very near future. I have read that the stock 4.6 can handle up to 15psi of boost. This seems a bit high to me. I was wondering what the maximum amount of boost is, before I would have to switch to forged internals. I don't plan on taking it to the track very often and it is a daily driver, well, ok, sunny day driver. Also, is there anything that is not included in the KB kit that you feel is necessary? Thanks for the help.

Hey Bill, thanks for the info on my last question, got you another one. I was wanting to know if getting the SCT software to tune my car would be the way to go, I have no experience in tuning a car nor do I have access to a dyno. There is not anywhere close to take the car that has a dyno and uses the SCT stuff. The closest place is 300 miles and they use the Diablo Predator. The car really needs a dyno tune after all mods, so should I get the shop to do it with the diablo or order the SCT and try it myself. Really don't know what to do, but can't afford a third motor. Thanks, Jason.

I have a '00 GT, 5 speed, that has an idling problem. I had the motor reworked with mildly ported heads, forged pistons, good rods, mild comp cams, a chip from JMS, long tubes, etc and the car has been great. However, I recently added a C&L plenum and BBK 75mm TB combo and the car has a hard time not dying unless you give it gas (starts, dies, starts, dies...if you keep the rpms up you can get on the road with it but you cannot push the clutch in for too long or it will stall on you). So, to make a long story short, the BBK TB seems to be the culprit. With it on, the car acts up, but with the stock TB, it runs fine. (On the BBK, you reuse your stock TPS). I am not really sure what to make of the situation. Any ideas????

The fan kicks in, I have coolant, no leaks. Do you have any ideas for me?? Thank You!

When I get the trailer I will go to 4:30s and now am running 3:73. Would you change to 4:10s is you knew that 4:30s were coming. Thanks man, and once again congrats.

If your check engine light is on they will not even inspect it.I have purchased a Hypertech engine programer to raise the rev-limiter & to "power tune" the motor, but i'm afraid that will make it not pass this emission test. My question is what can you do,& what can't you do as mdifications to this Mustang & it still pass the OBD 2 emission test?

Will a diagnostic test tell me what kind of chip it is for sure? Or is there a simple way for me to tell on my own? There is an air intake underneath the front right of the car. There is an H Pipe without convertors, and with Flowmaster mufflers, and stainless tailpipes. Would like to know what else to look for, as far as possible modifications. Also would like to know what kind of chip and how much more horsepower the typical chip will give?

I'm in Colorado Springs and at an elevation of about 6000'. Everything seems to run real smooth, no detonation etc, and it seems a bit faster but not what I expected from reading other articles on superchargers. Definitely have plans down the road to upgrade additional pieces but I was expecting a real kick in the pants sort of boost in power. Could I possibley have some kind of problem or am I expecting too much from having stock equipment? I've contacted vortech and they said because of the altitude I'm probably only running about 4lbs of boost and I need to change the pully size, however changing the one on the compressor voids the warranty they recommended changing the crankpully...Thoughts?

Any suggestions, maybe small injectors, reprogram the computer? I want to keep making it faster, but I want to spend it on the right thing, also I am having trouble finding the proper gear to bring the speedometer back in line, 15 mph off, could this be causing an issue, and also the timing is set to 11 1/2 degrees according to the adjuster, and finally 1 more guestion, after I figure out the problem, any suggestions for more horses in my pony, beside the obvious charger which will happen someday. my 60 foot time the first time was averaging 1.792 w/ a .841 reaction time, the next 2nd time with all the listed mods a reaction time of .856, it was 2.121 .

This might be a dumb question, but does the computer adjust the fuel curves, etc... for the different timing settings set with the timing adjuster? I mean, with a chip, the program for higher timing has different fuel curves set in the program to go with the higher timing all together. I guess what im saying is if the stock timing is 10 deg, and you change it with a timing adjuster to 16 degrees, does the computer automatically change the fuel curves to compensate for the different timing, the same way it would with a chip? If it does, what would be the benefit of paying 200 more bucks (on average) for a chip when you can just get a T/A for 150 bucks?

I recently installed a K&N fuel injection performance kit and a Mac 70mm throttle body on my 2000 GT. My idle jumped from 750 rpm to 1000 rpm. During driving, if I pressed the clutch such as to prepare for a stop, the rpm's would hover around 1500 for several seconds before dropping to 1000. I put the factory throttle body back on, and this restored the idle to normal. I contacted the site where I ordered the parts and they told me I needed a new mass airflow sensor. My modifications were minimal and the fuel injectors are stock, and I did not feel that was my problem. But without any other ideas and since this is my daily driver, I kept the stock throttle body on my car. I have since read an article in a magazine where they added an Accufab throttle body, and made reference to setting the TPS voltage with a multimeter, but they did not mention how or why this was done. I was wondering if my aftermarket throttle body required resetting the TPS, and if this could fix my idle problem? How is the TPS voltage set, and what are the correct settings? If you don't think it's the TPS, what would it most likely be? I live in a small town and the shops around here are dumbfounded if you're needing help with anything other than a chevy 350, so I have nowhere to turn locally.
